Description First introduced in 2015 at Baselworld, U-Boat releases a new range of Capsule watches which are still inspired by 1930’s bathyspheres mixed with steampunk aesthetics. This U-Boat Capsule is a limited edition of only 200 pieces and features a massive 50 mm stainless steel case that holds a deep black metal dial with three superimposed layers and a visible opening on leverage under a scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal, sealed to the case via an independent external bezel fastened with 5 external screws. This allows for a long side window running around the watch circumference which gives a glimpse of the dial from another perspective much like seeing Jules Verne’s imaginary underwater worlds from a bathysphere’s porthole. It has luminescent baton hands, indices, and Arabic numerals with steel brushed frames at the 4, 8, and 12 o’clock positions as hour markers, all treated with beige Super-LumiNova®. This “Destro”(right-handed) sports watch is also equipped with a lefty screw-down crown, highly distinctive with its “canteen watch” inspired crown protective cap and lever with patented crown extraction system at the 10 o’clock position and a discreet date aperture at the 9 o’clock position. Fitted with a brown leather strap secured by a stainless steel buckle which gives off a casual look. This watch also features a solid caseback, laser-engraved with a bathysphere submersible detail with a screwed-in limited edition number plate, is sealed shut by 4 external screws wherein underneath lies a Sellita caliber SW 200, a Swiss automatic movement personalized to U-Boat specifications beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and is water-resistant up to 100 meters/330 feet.
